Wanted: BOKS Coordinator

Reebok sponsors a before school fitness program called BOKS, which stands for Build Our Kids' Success. The 6-week program through the Reebok Foundation is a fun, fitness program that gets students moving with games, and team-oriented activities and it promotes the powerful link between physical activity and increased academic performance.  After 45 minutes of fun, the students head off to their classroom ready to learn. In order to get the program up and running for this spring, we're looking for parents to volunteer to coordinate it at Frenchtown.

Volunteers will need to be rained by BOKS and will work with the East Greenwich BOKS coordinator to run the Frenchtown program. They will need to be at each session and recruit and oversee volunteers for each session, as well as working with Ms. Carr to make sure BOKS doesn't interfere with her preparations for Phys Ed classes.

If you are interested in helping with BOKS, please contact donnahmathews@live.com or sarahmeleski@gmail.com.

The PTG Needs Your Help

The PTG is looking for help!

Are you interested in science or helping our kids learn about science? Then please consider heading up SCIENCE NIGHT! Along with a committee of helpers, you'll come up with fun activities, lecturers or other ideas for students during our ART & SCIENCE NIGHT on May 12th (the Art Night portion is already being chaired). It won't take a lot of time but will make a big difference to the kids.

We're also looking for help with the YEARBOOK! Second grade parent Cindy Speranza does an amazing job putting it together, and this year she's looking for a few people to help with the booster/advertising side of things:

  1. Someone with design or graphics experience who would like to help parents create their booster ads
  2. Someone who would like to manage the booster ad orders and work with a team of people to solicit ads from local businesses

We'll also be looking for people to assist in laying out the yearbook pages in the spring.

If you're interested in helping out with any of the above, please contact Stephanie Elevado - princessSO@aol.com - or Renee Syed - rd_2003colo@yahoo.com.

The Book Fair Is Coming!

It's Scholastic Book Fair time again! The sale will run next week from Tuesday, September 8th through Friday, September 11th.

You can view the schedule for class visits below if you'd like to shop while your child will be there, and you can also visit during the Family Picnic from 4:00-8:00 pm on Friday.

So come check out the great selection of books for kids and adults, toys, games and more! Stocking up on early holiday gifts or buying books to donate to your child's classroom also helps our school - proceeds benefit the PTG and all we do for the Frenchtown community.

Payments can be made via cash, credit card or check payable to FRENCHTOWN PTG. You're welcome to send cash or a check in with your child to use during their classroom visits.

If you can't make the sale at Frenchtown, you can also shop online at http://bookfairs.scholastic.com/homepage/Frenchtown starting tomorrow.

Last, but not least, we're looking for volunteers to help at the Book Fair - setting up on Friday, September 4th and assisting during sales hours next week. Shifts are available during all class visits, and many parents choose to help out while their child will be there. You can sign up to volunteer HERE.

Happy shopping!
